And it’s not just children who are celebrating – even businesses are getting involved, with many companies now offering special deals and promotions for Father’s Day.

The history of Fathers Day and how it's evolved

Father’s Day is a holiday that has its roots in the early 20th century. It has been celebrated in the US since 1910, but it didn’t become an official holiday in the country until 1972. In the United Kingdom Father’s Day is held on the third Sunday in June.

Before that, Father’s Day was celebrated in a variety of countries around the world. It had its origins in Catholic Europe, where it was celebrated in honour of Catholic saints who were known as the “fathers” of the Catholic Church. In the United States, the day was initially celebrated as a way of honouring Fathers of the American Revolution, and eventually became a day for celebrating all fathers.

In the last few decades, Father’s Day has become widely recognized as a day to show appreciation to fathers. It has evolved from being a day to honour fathers of the past to being a day to celebrate and thank fathers for all that they do. Gifts, cards, and special activities are becoming more and more common on Father’s Day as the day has become more popular.

Father’s Day is a great way to show appreciation for dads and the love and support they give all year round. It’s an opportunity to say “thank you” and recognize all of the hard work and dedication dads put into their families. Show your dad some appreciation this Father’s Day!

Why fathers are so important

Fathers play an important role in the development and growth of their children. They are the ones who provide guidance, stability, and moral support.

Fathers contribute to a child’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. They provide a sense of security and belonging, which helps children build their self-esteem. Fathers also serve as models for problem-solving and coping skills.

Fathers help children learn life skills such as communication, negotiation, and how to handle difficult emotions. These skills help children develop into self-confident and successful adults.

Fathers also have an important role to play in the relationship between parents and children. They provide guidance and support to their families, and play a role in protecting and encouraging their children. They are often seen as the authority figure in the household, setting rules and expectations.

It is important to recognize and celebrate fathers for all that they do and the integral role they play in the lives of their children. Father’s Day is a great opportunity to acknowledge the importance of fathers, and to thank them for their unconditional love and support.

The different ways to celebrate Fathers Day

There are many ways to celebrate Father’s Day in a meaningful and personal way. Here are some ideas for making Father’s Day special for dad:

- Give him a day off. Surprise your dad by taking care of tasks like lawn mowing or house cleaning on Father’s Day this year.

- Cook him his favourite meal. Ask dad if he wants any specific dishes and surprise them with a meal that tastes like home-cooked.

- Plant something together. If dad is an avid gardener, or just loves to be outdoors, you can spend the day planting or mowing a garden together.

- Write him a letter. Let dad know how much you love and appreciate him, by writing a thoughtful Father’s Day letter or card.

- Spend quality time together. Showing dad that you care doesn’t have to be expensive. Spend time with dad doing things that you both enjoy, such as taking a hike, playing sports, going for drinks or having a movie night.

- Buy him a gift. If you feel like your dad may appreciate a gift from you, pick something that he will love. Some gifts may include a subscription to Music streaming services like YouTube where he can access his favourite tunes,  magazine or a tool set that he has been wanting.

- Make a photo album. Create a photo album with memories of all the times you’ve shared together. Dad will definitely appreciate the effort you put in for him.

The best way to show your dad how much you appreciate him

Perhaps the greatest gift that anyone can give their father is the heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for all that he has done for them. After all, times spent together are worth more than tangible gifts such as tools or watches.

The best way to show your dad how much you appreciate him is to make the effort to tell him or show him your feelings. You can sit down and talk to him about the special moments you have shared and remind him of how grateful you are for all that he has done for you. You can also write him a heartfelt letter that expresses your love and admiration for him.

Another meaningful gift that you can give him is to listen to him as he shares his stories. Showing your dad that you are genuinely interested in listening to him will make him feel special and appreciated, and will also help you build and strengthen your bond with him.

You can surprise your dad with thoughtful gestures that demonstrate your gratitude for him, like arranging for a special evening out for the two of you or planning a surprise weekend getaway. Doing something special that he will remember will show him that you appreciate and acknowledge the hard work he does to provide for you and your family.

No matter how you choose to let your dad know how much you appreciate him, the gesture itself will mean the world to him.

I agree that Fathers have not been recognized and celebrated by society as they should unfortunately . Fathers and Mothers are a force in society and in the lives of kids. There’s no one without the other.
I’m so glad the narrative is changing.

Nice write up about father’s day.
Of a truth we don’t celebrate them as well as we should.
Thank you for sharing great suggestions for celebrating them💪.
We should learn our father’s ‘love language’ and speak it this June.
